Having chucked out of the current job, a dejected, down in the dumps miserably gloomy man approached a counselor begging to assist him find a job, and said “Sir, I am good for nothing, useless and I am out of job. I feel like ending my life.”
The counselor looked at him, smiled, and handed over a 1000 Rs. Note to the man. Bewildered, the man looked at it with a question mark in his eyes, and took the note.
The counselor then asked the man to go ahead and crumple the note, spit on it and then to throw it on the ground. Baffled, the man did it and then the counselor asked him to walk away. The man stopped and reminded the counselor that a 1000/- note is lying on the ground and that he could not help himself and picked it up. He ran to the counselor and shouted,” what absurdity is this? Do you even understand the value of this note to me? It’s a week of ration to me. ”
Smilingly, the counselor asked the man to understand as to why he made him accept that crumpled, spitted on and trampled note.
He elucidated “ The note did not lose out it’s value even after being subjected to all this. Son, in life at times we are crushed, crumpled and stepped upon ,but it does not make us good for nothing, does not make us lose out our value, then how come getting out of a job makes us worthless? Just as that 1000 Rs. Note didn’t lose its worth after being crumpled and spitted on , similarly all Humans have some basic intrinsic value which cannot be taken away by anything or anyone other than he himself.”
Hi interesting post, just loved it.
